Who should attend: Businesses
that are either currently involved or interested in getting involved
in the SBIR/STTR program. Incubator clients are eligible
for a full registration scholarship to attend by being a patron
of the incubator.
Conference Objectives: The conference
will provide guidance to small businesses, economic development
professionals and other business service providers on how to
take advantage of the SBIR/STTR program, including instruction
on the preparation of SBIR proposals, and assistance on
how to identify R&D opportunities in the federal government
and at university and federal labs. Workshop instructors
along with the SBIR/STTR Program Managers will provide their
agency overview and information on eligibility requirements. Representatives
from the Florida Small Business Development Center Network, BioFlorida,
and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council will augment the agenda
with guidance and information on how they can assist small
businesses establish joint research relationships with universities,
preparing business plans, contracting requirements, the mentor-protege
program and other related topics.

About the SBIR/STTR Program:The
federal government has provided funding to small businesses engaged
in innovative research through the SBIR Program since 1982. The
federal government has committed $2.5 billion for this year to
provide SBIR/STTR Phase I awards of up to $100,000, and up to
$750,000 per project to small businesses for Phase II.
