Orlando, Fla. (November 15, 2002)—Custom Manufacturing & Engineering, Inc., one of more than 30 high tech companies participating in the UCF Technology Incubator at Central Florida Research Park, recently won two major Defense Dept. contracts.
Carol Ann Dykes, associate director of the UCF Technology Incubator, said the firm won a $1.3 million contract in August from the U.S. Army's STRICOM division - Simulation Training and Instrumentation Command - to design and manufacture the NATO Standard Telemetry Fuze and a $300,000 contract in September from the U.S. Navy to design and manufacture the T34 Flight Simulator Park Task Trainer.
Custom Manufacturing and Engineering is based in St. Petersburg, Fla., Dykes said. The firm recently expanded operations by opening an office in the UCF Technology Incubator in the Central Florida Research Park. The affiliation with Incubator enables CME to take advantage of the Incubator's business development assistance, and synergies with other Incubator companies. CME has been supporting Florida High-Tech Corridor initiatives for several years.
The UCF Technology Incubator provides support for emerging technology companies for up to three years, Dykes explained. "Our mission is to nurture technology companies to create high-wage jobs that will diversify the region's economic base," she said.
