Orlando, Fla. (November 21, 2002)—The UCF Technology Incubator, which nurtures more than 30 startup technology companies in Central Florida, got a big boost from Orange County government recently - $100,000.
John Lewis of the Orange County EDC said the $100,000 represents the second year of funding awarded the UCF Technology Incubator. In 2001, the county agreed to provide $100,000 annually to the organization as a three-year economic stimulus package, according to Lewis.
"Expansion of the UCF Technology Incubator is a very important part of Orange County's economic development strategy," said Orange County Chairman Richard Crotty. "It is playing a unique and key role in diversifying our economy and creating high-wage jobs," he said.
