Associate Director Carol Ann Dykes Cites Importance to Incubator Clients and Orlando Economy
Orlando, Fla. (May 19, 2003) - Executives from the University of Central Florida Technology Incubator are attending the National Business Incubation Association's (NBIA) 17th International Conference on Business Incubation this week in Richmond, Va.
Boasting more than 60 educational sessions, "Attending this conference is critical to our ability to provide the best possible advice and resources for our clients," said Associate Director Carol Ann Dykes. "Our mission is to give our clients the tools they need to be successful and their success has a direct impact Orlando's economy."
Dykes draws a parallel between attending prestigious events that offer valuable information and UCFTI's ranking as one of the top 10 performing incubators in the country. Dykes attended the conference with Tom O'Neal, director and Melissa Debach, marketing manager.
In 2001 alone, North American incubators assisted more than 35,000 start-up companies that provided full-time employment for nearly 82,000 workers and generated annual earnings of more than $7 billion. More than 950 business incubation programs now operate in North America, up from just 12 in 1980.
The National Business Incubation Association is the world's leading organization advancing business incubation and entrepreneurship. Since 1985 NBIA has demonstrated its commitment to industry excellence by conducting respected research, offering acclaimed publications and training opportunities, participating in effective consulting projects, and providing personalized member service.
