Orlando, Fla., Mar. 19, 2004 --- RoninWorks, a UCF Technology Incubator client, will launch the BurstMouse™ at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose on March 24, 2004. BurstMouse™ is the latest evolutionary step in 3D computer interaction. The product bundle, priced at $350, will contain the BurstMouse™ and the BurstPlugIn™ for Maya™ and 3D Studio Max™.
The BurstMouse™ is an "off the shelf" Logitech™ optical USB wheel mouse retrofitted with a CyMouse motion sensor supplied by Maui Innovative Peripherals, Inc. This combination offers users the full performance of an optical mouse when working in 2D mode on the mouse pad and above the pad where users gain an additional 3D position with pitch and yaw, shift roll and mixed rotation only modes.
The BurstPlugin™ will enhance the existing Maya™ / 3D Studio™ transformation and rotation tools with 6D direct hand-eye alternatives. The BurstPlugin™ enables 3D animators, 3D modelers or CAD engineers to experience a whole new dimension of interaction with the content in their 3D scene and enhances existing transformation and rotation operations with direct hand-eye alternatives.
RoninWorks will also be displaying MiniMocap™ Module for Maya™ / 3D Studio™, which is a slice of traditional motion capture scaled down to the 3D animator's desktop for a fraction of the price of a full motion capture setup. It provides a much needed option that supplements custom motion programming and simulation of natural motion through mouse based key framing.
