technology entrepreneurs, university technology administrators
and other qualified participants.
DETAILS: "Starting
an Angel Organization" provides a comprehensive overview of steps
in creating successful angel organizations in the Central Florida
region. The seminar specifically targets community leaders, economic
development departments, and high net worth investors with limited
angel investment experience. The seminar will cover a community
assessment, angel investment structures, angel network/group
membership strategies, legal structures for angel organizations,
and investment decision-making strategies. Opportunities to network
with instructors and participants will be available throughout
the day.
The Kauffman Foundation (an organization dedicated to advancing
entrepreneurship in the United States) developed the seminar
curriculum based on extensive input from an array of angel experts
around the country. The workshop will be taught by Sue Preston,
a successful entrepreneur and the founder of an angel group in
the Seattle area. Preston is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence with
the Kauffman Foundation and is the author of multiple books on
angel investing. Seminar participants will explore Preston's
book "A Guidebook to Developing the Right Angel Organization
for Your Community". Additionally, a variety of angel investment
experts will share their perspectives via case study video segments
throughout the workshop.

- Attracting
initial investors and additional members to your organization
- Planning
a financial structure
- Overcoming
special challenges along the way

VENTURE LAB
The
UCF Venture Lab was formed in 2004 as a joint initiative between
the UCF Office of Research, UCF's College of Business, and
Orange County, Florida, The UCF Venture Lab was formed
