Masscal Corp. Appoints John W. Furry, Ph.D. Chief Executive Officer

ORLANDO, Fla. (October 12, 2006)--- Masscal Corporation, which recently relocated its headquarters from Chatham, Mass., to Orlando, has appointed John W. Furry, Ph.D., as CEO.

Masscal Scientific Instruments, Masscal’s operating division, who recently joined the University of Central Florida Technology Incubator, designs, manufactures, markets and maintains unique laboratory instruments for chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, engineering and research laboratories.  Masscal also offers contract laboratory services including exclusive analytical capabilities for thin films and nanotechnology.

Furry earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Iowa State University. Furry fulfilled a variety of positions at DuPont in businesses related to finishes, films and instrument products.  In 1990, Furry was a member of a six-person management team that initiated and directed an employee buyout of the instrument business from DuPont with venture capital from Chemical Venture Partners and Prudential Financial Investments.  Furry served as Director of R&D and New Technology over the period in which TA Instruments quickly grew to become the recognized innovation leader and largest worldwide provider of thermal analysis and rheology instruments with annual sales of more than $70 million.

In 1999, Furry formed ProTech Scientific, a technical consulting and professional services company that specializes in development of analytical instruments for forensic and homeland security applications.
