Mydea Technologies  CEO One of Only 81 Selected Nationwide to Participate in National Academy of Engineering’s 12th Annual Frontiers of Engineering Symposium

Orlando, Fla. (Aug. 21, 2006) --- Michael F. Siemer, P.E., founder and chief executive officer of Mydea Technologies Corp., is one of 81 inventive young engineers selected to participate in the National Academy of Engineering’s 12th Annual Frontiers of Engineering symposium at the Ford Research and Innovation Center in Dearborn, Mich. Sept. 21-23.

The majority of selected symposium participants work at prestigious institutes such as Sandia National Laboratories, Bell Laboratories, major universities or corporations such as Microsoft Research.  Siemer is one of only 10 entrepreneurs among the distinguished group of America’s “best and brightest” engineers aged 30-45 invited to participate in the Symposium.

Mydea Technologies Corp., which opened in 2003 in the University of Central Florida Technology Incubator, produces rapid prototypes — one-of-a-kind physical objects made of a variety of materials to exacting specifications. Siemer developed and configured highly sophisticated computer and tool systems that measure and calibrate engineering specifications and then produce prototype objects quickly and efficiently — sometimes in less than a day.

The objects are then used in prototype systems that demonstrate a wide range of engineering, mechanical and materials technologies — from critical aircraft engine or weapons systems parts to components for simulator training equipment.

Siemer developed many of his prototyping skills and technologies as an engineer working on Disney World rides and shows..

Siemer said he was honored to be selected. “This year’s Frontiers of Engineering group includes some of the best and brightest engineers my generation has produced,” Siemer said.

“The symposium is a chance to share practical skills and perspectives in an open, collaborative setting. I’m honored to be part of it, and I hope to learn a great deal,” Siemer said.
