Orlando –based BioTraits to Clock Racers in Inaugural Fireball Run Transcontinental Rally Sept. 29

ORLANDO, Fla. (August 13, 2007) – BioTraits, Inc., an Orlando-based technology company, is providing highly sophisticated biometrics technology valued at more than $50,000 to track participants in the inaugural Fireball Run Transcontinental Rally.  The Rally is a 3,500-mile race that starts at the Rosen Hotel in Orlando and finishes nine days later at the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles.

Ricardo Aguilar, president of BioTraits Inc., said the new technology remote time management services, developed to manage and document off site workers, will make it impossible to cheat in the race.

Each participating in the rally will provide “bioprints,” a series of unique personal identifiers that cannot be duplicated or faked. The bioprint is embedded electronically on an identification card, Aguilar said, and both the participant and the card must register at checkpoints along the rally route.

“It would be impossible to switch racers in the middle of the race, because the card’s bioprint and the racers’ unique identifiers must match perfectly at each check point,” said Aguilar.

The four year old company, located in UCF Technology Incubator, designed its technology for less arduous use.

“Typically, BioTraits systems are used to track and manage truck drivers, law enforcement officers, construction workers, inventory accountants and other types of employees,” said
Aguilar.

The Fireball Run Transcontinental Rally race hopes to raise public awareness for the Child Rescue Network.    Sign-in starts Sept. 27 and the race starts the morning of the 29th.
