PowerfulEducationTechnologies Has Powerful Lesson For Young People: “You've Got The Power”

ORLANDO, Fla. (Sept. 5, 2007) --- PowerfulEducation Technologies, Inc. has a powerful message for young people---a learning resource module called You’ve Got The Power.

Dr. Lesia L. Crumpton-Young, president of the firm, is author of the curriculum workbook that’s designed to teach character education and life skills development to middle and high school students.

The workbook, which has sold more than 3000 copies nationwide over the past four years, focuses on principles that build strong character needed for improved performance and life long success, such as goal setting, strategies for life-long learning, believing in yourself and learning from your mistakes.

You’ve Got the Power” began as a single workbook,” Dr. Young said.
PowerfulEducation Technologies recruited co-writers to expand Dr. Crumpton-Young’s curriculum workbook into a series of 11 workbooks that target different stages of life – childhood, adolescence and young adults as well as At-Risk Youth and Juveniles.

“The important life skills learning processes that helped build the character and responsibility of our parents and grandparents aren’t available to many children today,” Dr. Young said. “Our society has changed.  Schools are experiencing increased problems of student violence, misbehavior, poor performance and poor decision making. The You’ve Got the Power series makes those important character-building processes accessible to young people today, in terms they can more readily accept and internalize,” she said.

Young, who earned a Ph.D. in Engineering from Texas A&M   University has 20 years of educational experience in Texas, Mississippi and Florida. She currently serves as a program director for the National Science Foundation in addition to her duties at the University of Central Florida.

Co-authors of the 11-book series include Tekoa Summers, a UCF graduate in criminology; UF graduate in sociology Willie J. Davis, and Dr. Pamela Barber-Freeman, who earned her Ph.D in educational leadership from the University of Oklahoma.
