Two Martial Artists Win Action Actor Roles in Upcoming Film through Online Audition at Kickgen.com

ORLANDO Fla. (May 19, 2008) --- KICKgen.com, the social networking community for martial arts aficionados, recently selected nine-year old De-Andre Brown of Ridgeland, S.C., and twenty-two year old Marc Canonizado of Orlando in an online audition for feature parts in Templar: Honor Among Thieves, a martial arts film set to begin shooting in Austin, Texas next year.

Tracy McCoy, chief operating officer at KICKgen.com, based in Orlando, Fla., said the event marks the first time a U.S. feature film production has participated in an online audition for major roles.

“KICKgen.com participated in the casting for action actors in the Innovative Renderworx film, which stars Paul Michael Bloodgood, Yesenia Garcia, Garret T. Sato, and Chance Hartman. Rene Hinojosa is directing the film, which will be produced at Spiderwood Studios in Austin,” McCoy said.

“Templar: Honor Among Thieves is a classic western tale set in the future on a distant planet,” McCoy said. “Martial arts is a principal theme and, as a leading online community for martial artists, we saw an opportunity to offer our members, who tend to be tournament champions, an opportunity to audition online for parts in the film.”

Brown, a student at Dunamis Karate Studio in Ridgeland, S.C., holds a black belt. Canonizado, a multiple North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA) tournament champion, has been competing in martial arts tournaments since the age of three.
