GroupTable Holds First On-Campus Event, Plans National Roll-Out Later This Year

ORLANDO, Fla. (July 14, 2008)  --- GroupTable.com, founded by three University of Central Florida students to help manage their group projects and study groups more effectively, recently hosted its first on-campus event outside the student union at UCF to help build support for a statewide launch later this year.

David Brim, one of the co-founders of GroupTable.com, said the event helped grow awareness and increase traffic to the site.

“We are now receiving almost 20,000 page views per month after a very controlled launch primarily focused at UCF,” Brim said.

“Many students are required to engage in group projects for their classes and often find it difficult to get everyone together and move forward efficiently on the project due to conflicting class times, work schedules, and family obligations,” Brim explained.

“GroupTable.com enables students to participate in their group projects anytime and anywhere that’s convenient for them, Brim said.

Students can communicate with their group members through a group specific chat room or discussion board, store/share all their group files, assign tasks to keep their project on track, and manage all their groups from one location, for free.

All group files, messages and information are password protected so that only members of the group can access them.

UCF students David Brim, Carl Henderson and Scott Wall founded GroupTable.com after realizing that their own group projects and study groups were affected by conflicting schedules and lack of organization.

Their concept won a $12,000 prize in the 2008 UCF Business Plan competition, which they turned into seed money to launch the first version of their site during spring 2008.

“One of the big reasons GroupTable.com has grown so fast is that it really solves a problem most students face,” Brim said.

Jessica Cevetello, a UCF senior majoring in marketing, was on hand to help during the GroupTable.com event along with UCF students Tabitha Hobbs, Allison Phillips and Aaron Teer.

The group passed out GroupTable promotional items, played music and supplied pizza to curious students.

“GroupTable really helped out my Capstone group and I know a lot more people would use it if they knew about it,” Cevetello said.

GroupTable.com is currently enhancing the site and has a lot of improvements in store for fall semester.
