GeoFitness launches new products for early childhood education and fitness

ORLANDO, Fla., (Aug. 15, 2008)  GeoFitness, Inc.,  a market leader providing products and programs for education and physical fitness, has created a new product line designed for children ages 3 to 8.

The Orlando-based company is a curriculum-based fitness and education business that creates movement and exercise mats for people of all ages, according to president and founder Dr. Debby Mitchell, a physical education specialist, author, presenter and researcher, and an associate professor at UCF.

“We are very excited that these new products make learning fun, healthy and educational while keeping children active,” Mitchell said. “And, they’ve already become extremely successful.”

The new GeoFitness Meaningful Movement Mats, or M3 Mats, use colorful numbered boxes, symbols, patterns and the alphabet, along with instructional DVDs, music CDs, curriculum guides, movement dice and task cards to aid in learning, she said.

The mats encourage movement at an early age, while children learn colors, numbers, shapes, directions, telling time, and the alphabet, Mitchell said.

In addition to the M3 Mats, GeoFitness also has fitness programs and mats that teach about nutrition and health, as well as programs like dance, aerobics and kick-boxing designed for older students, and even a “Fitness after 50” program for senior citizens.  “Our goal is to meet the training needs of individuals and groups for all fitness levels and ages…everywhere,” Mitchell said.

GeoFitness is a client of the University of Central Florida Technology Incubator located in the Central Florida Research Park.
